Etters Beach sits on the western shore of Last Mountain Lake, in the Rural Municipality of Big Arm No. 251. It became a resort village on October 1, 1965, and has been governed since then by an elected council and an appointed clerk.
Today the village is known for its lakeside recreation. Next to it is Etters Beach Recreation Site Campground, with daily and seasonal campsites that all look out over the lake, along with sandy beaches for swimming, boating and fishing. On the south side of the village is a 9-hole golf course, the Etters Beach Golf Club.
To the north, at the top of Last Mountain Lake, lies the Last Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary, the oldest bird sanctuary in North America.
